Summary
This Faculty Development Programme (FDP) introduces participants to the complete lifecycle of Generative AI Engineering. The course begins with the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and the evolution of Generative AI. Participants will learn how transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, tokens, embeddings, and context windows enable Large Language Models to process and generate natural language. Understanding these core concepts provides the foundation for building robust AI applications. One of the essential topics covered in this programme is Prompt Engineering. Prompt engineering involves designing effective instructions that guide Large Language Models toward producing accurate, relevant, and high-quality responses. Participants will explore various prompting techniques, including Zero-shot Prompting, One-shot Prompting, Few-shot Prompting, Role Prompting, Chain-of-Thought Prompting, Self-Consistency, and Structured Prompting. They will also learn how parameters such as temperature, top-p, maximum tokens, and system prompts influence model behavior. These techniques significantly improve the performance of AI systems without requiring expensive model retraining.

About Workshop
Generative AI Engineering is an emerging discipline that focuses on designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining intelligent applications powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and other foundation models. Unlike traditional software engineering, where applications follow predefined rules, Generative AI applications can understand natural language, generate human-like responses, summarize information, write code, create content, and assist users in solving complex problems. AI engineers integrate these capabilities into real-world applications while ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and responsible AI practices. The rapid advancement of foundation models such as GPT, Llama, Gemini, Claude, and Mistral has transformed the way organizations build intelligent systems. These models are trained on massive datasets and possess the ability to understand context, perform reasoning, answer questions, translate languages, generate code, and support decision-making across various domains. However, effectively utilizing these models requires a strong understanding of prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI agents, deployment strategies, monitoring, and evaluation
