Vignan's Foundation for Science, Technology and Research (VFSTR), Guntur and University of Malaysia, Kelantan is organizing a International Conference during 22 - 23 September, 2022 with focal theme on "Innovative Food System Transformations for Sustainable Development in Agro-Food and Nutrition Sector". The conference is planned to have about 6 Sessions in 2 days. The conference is expected to fetch about 400 plus delegate registrations from industries, academics and research organizations.
This conference is an ideal platform for deliberation, networking and partnership between different stockholders, addressing the issues of societal outreach and industry, research and academic collaboration. This platform will be provided for presentation of original research in oral as well as poster sessions through blended mode. The Division of Food Technology was started with M. Tech in Food Technology in 2012, B. Tech in Food Technology in 2014, under the aegis of Department of Chemical Engineering. The Department is equipped with state of art laboratories and well qualified faculty drawn from premier institutions. The department is also catering the needs of food processing sector by producing skilled manpower. Department is also associated with 50+ food processing industries, national research laboratories and institutes. The department is working for the solving the contemporary issues related to the areas of value addition of agricultural produce, novel processing technologies, food safety and public health. The department is also offering Doctor of Philosophy in Food Technology and allied areas of research.
The establishment of a university in Kelantan was made as a component in the Ninth Malaysia Plan to support the quality of human capital development in the higher education sector. The cabinet has specified that the philosophy of the curriculum in UMK should be based on entrepreneurship and enterprise education in all the study programmes. Therefore, taglines such as “Entrepreneurship is Our Thrust” and “Entrepreneurial University” are widely used to promote the philosophy of this university. Specialised studies for short and moderate term are grouped into three main fields of studies, namely: 1. Entrepreneurship and Business; 2. Creative Technology and Heritage; 3. Agro-Based Industry and Earth Sciences. Apart from the three fields of studies, the significant emphasis would be given to acquiring languages and the development of soft skills. Faculty of Agro-based Industry (FIAT) was established on April 1, 2012 along Faculty of Earth Sciences (FSB) after more than four years under the Faculty of Agro Industry and Natural Resources (FASA). The establishment of this faculty is in line with the core of the university, where one of the core components in the establishment or university of agriculture and entrepreneurship.
